I am enthusiatically supporting New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination. Gov. Richardson just won re-election with a whopping 68 percent of the vote!
I know Gov. Richardson isn't too well-known in Virginia... yet. But soon people will be talking about his resume, which includes: Ambassador to the United Nations, seven terms in the U.S. Congress, Secretary of Energy, Chairman of the 2004 Democratic Convention.
Who could be better prepared to deal with our mess in the Middle East than a diplomat who also ran our U.S. energy policy and is a four-time nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize.
As a native Coloradoan, I am really excited about the prospect of a real Westerner sitting in the Oval Office. And as a 22-year resident of Northern Virginia, I know moderate southerners are just waiting for a candidate with strong experience and practical politics - the kind of leadership that Bill Richardson offers.

Welcome to the "For Richardson" family!! Love your blog...it looks wonderful!! As someone who has lived in various Southern states, through a vast portion of my life, I agree with you entirely on your thoughts about the region being open to the idea of Governor Richardson's candidacy...as that is a belief that I have long held myself.
Again - welcome!!

I'm another Westerner who lives in Arlington, VA, and definitely would like to see a Democratic President from the "other side" of the Mississippi River. I've been watching Governor Richardson for some time, and would like to bring a lot more pressure to bear to encourage his entry into the race NOW rather than later. (My concern is that the legislative candidates are crowding the race early and are going to make it very difficult for those from outside of the Beltway to cut through the noise...)
Bill Richardson is without a doubt the single most qualified person in the race right now. His biggest problem is name recognition. I urge everyone to take a look at his background and to talk him up to whoever will listen. Otherwise we will end up with whoever the mainstream media picks for us (read Clinton, Obama, Edwards). Not that these candidates are bad choices, I just believe that Gov. Richardson is a significantly better one.
